The Digital Arts and Humanities PhD course is unique as it is the only course available in Ireland that allows me to combine my research interests in Old English Literature with the digital skill-sets that my research project requires. My research project aims to revolutionise Bede and Old English scholarship by providing an accessible digital resource that reconciles the marginalia from the four extant manuscript witnesses of the Old English Bede with its principal text. The rationale for this research project is to recreate the complex textual relationships of the Old English Bede as closely as possible to its manuscript context – (this has not been previously possible due to the physical constraints of the book paradigm).
